I can't stand all these hunters in NJ who say, "there are no big bucks." The reason they do not see big bucks is because they would rather shoot some little basket scrap buck whos rack will end up in a box in their shed or garage before they will let the tag go unfilled. This state give you the perfect chance to let the bucks grow to maturity while still FILLING your freezer with most if not all zones with unlimited doe tags for every season. I just wish some of the hunters would wake up and "let them go and let them grow", we could grow some real monsters in this state if we could all get on the same page and stop thinking that they have to fill every buck tag they have even if it is scrap crap. The ball is in your court hunters we can grow big bucks and shoot does to fill the freezers or we can all do what most of the hunters out there are doing and shoot every buck you see. I think shooting quality bucks is far better than shooting little scrappers that could have grown into the buck of a lifetime.

This comes from a guy who has shot some really nice N.J. bucks, and he makes me sick with cellphone pics of bucks that he passes. He does practice what he preaches.

I tend to agree with you, but if an animal makes you happy that should be enough. Sometimes the size of the antlers aren't the most important thing, and if he doesn't look like a buck on t.v. that doesn't mean he isn't the big buck on your property.

Self-control and expectations need to be balanced.
