I very rarely get to hunt a spot with a steady wind. In most of my spots the winds swirls, and changes direction, at the drop of a hat. Keeping track of the wind direction, without some sort of indicator, is nearly impossible. I have found what works the best for me is a piece of thread attached to the lower limb of my bow. With my bow hanging on the bow arm, the thread is in plain sight at all times. It doesn't take any movement to check. Even the slightest change is clearly visible. This allows me to see when I may have to hurry a situation, or when I can let things play out on their own. So, get you some thread. Sometimes the simplest things work the best.

Also, if you happen to hear a low flying mud duck, hold your breath. |

Ask #1 Son to bring back "wishing for a gas mask", it's all about that. |
