I bought a Tenpoint turbo XLT last season and got my first doe this year with a crossbow. There is an amusing story behind it: Port and I went to my buddy Randy's farm( a 96 acre farm)at the beginning of the season to check out the lay of the land. Randy showed us some spots he thought would be good to hunt. so Randy led the way through a path at the corner of the soy fields, Port was right behind him and I was right behind them. There was a gentle slope just past a tree stand that was already set up 20 yards back from the edge of the field. Randy and Port went down the slope( both were wearing boots and I had sneakers on like a dope) and as I followed in their footprints, I found myself falling to the ground with a large thump. My left foot must have been inches over to the left of where they walked, which was just enough to find the one groundhog hole in the path. Ironically the deer I shot ended up only a few feet from where I fell. Needless to say I was very cautious of where I stepped to retrieve the doe. Lesson learned: Look down and never wear sneakers while walking through the woods. I probably wouldn't have twisted my ankle when I fell. But back to the Crossbow, I found it so much easier to hunt from a tree stand with a crossbow (because I injured my right shoulder)then using a compound bow. I love my Mathews bow but had difficulty drawing and holding the bow with and injured shoulder. The Tenpoint was fast and accurate and the doe didn't know what hit her. The bolt had gone clean through her. She ran 25 yards stumbled and was done. I look forward to using it again and again. Cheers!
