Well, Oklahoma rifle season is halfway over ( it started Nov. 19th. )and it's been a hell of a challenge. If the wind isn't blowin 90 miles an hour, it's been tresspassers with automatic rifles, mountian lions, coyotes ( CK knows all about the coyotes LMAO ), or just the typical ASSHOLE road hunter. You name it, we have been dealing with it. Jamey and I have put up with PLENTY of shit this past week but started off this week a renewed hope that nobody on any adjoining properties, road hunters, or any other distractions would be around to bother us. Into the woods we go this morning, it's a clear crisp morning and the sun is coming on strong. Not even in the blind 10 minutes, talking to Jamey on the radio about how the feed had been hit hard at my spot and here come 5 does. Two blow right past me and into the woods, one went across the field and the other two came straight to my feeder. Then I heard some grunting and saw a buck. He came running past me nose to ground and grunting, right into the woods. Then all of the sudden one of the does at the feeder runs into the woods where the buck went and came rith back out with her tail stickin straight up. Next thing you know here comes the buck, grunting and licking his lips with his nose to the ground. He stopped about 30 yards away and I threw the slug gun out the window of my blind and let a round rip before those deer had any clue what was going on. I saw the blood and hair fly, and knew that Fusion 2 3/4 hollow point sabot slug had just done some damage ! The buck stood humped up, straight legged, with his tail sticking straight in the air for 3-4 seconds then just fell into a pile. I was impressed, he didn't even move an inch after I shot him. What an great way to start the morning ! ! He surely isn't the biggest buck in the world or even on the property I have, but it's been 5 LONG ASS YEARS since I have killed a deer and I wasn't waiting any longer ! ! Besides, I did this poor buck a favor, what ever he had been fighting with actuall broke his skull right wher his left antler comes out. Now to work on gettin Jamey a deer ! !

WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!! The fact that his skull was busted, and he was still chasing does, just shows how tough these deer are. I'll always be impressed by them. Tell the mountain lion story. Congratulations Bro, wish I was there. |
