My dad scored a piece of property from a girl I used to go to school with. What a cherry spot, the property only big enough for one person especially with the gun. I helped my father with putting in his stand. I kind of laughed, I thought there was no way you could shoot a deer from a ladder stand that was only 8 foot up in the tree. Well, the best spot we could find for it was in a big cedar tree. By the time we were done you couldn't see any part of that stand and sitting in it was killer, it would supprise the hell out of any deer that came along. Opening day, sun is just comming up and getting light out my father hears some noise. He waits a few minutes as it gets closer, then he sees it, a nice 8 pointer. funny thing is this deer is like 6 feet away and can't see my father but my father could see him. My dad grabs his Fox model B double barrel shotgun and slowly parts the cedar branches with it. Right as he gets the bead on the buck, the buck realizes my dad isn't a big squirl . . . . .BOOM ! ! Yeah, it's lights out.The buck was so close he probably had powder burns. My dad was telling me just how funny it was, he said he had the bead on him and had seen the bucks eyes grow to like 3 times their normal size when he finally noticed my father and realized he was in trouble. He said the look was priceless and wished he'd had a camera to have taped it.

That might be one of the funniest stories he told us to date. I can still laugh thinking about the facial expressions he made, while decribing the deer's expression. |
