I got wind of my town starting up a deer committee, the first of it's kind anywhere in the state of New Jersey. The town has a huge number of whitetail deer, and a huge number of accidents involving cars and deer. I sat in on town council meetings for over a year as people battled back and forth over effective means of controlling the local deer population. They looked into special reflectors to line the sides of the road with WAY to expensive. Even tranquilizing and relocating at $2200 per deer way to expensive and just not effective enough. The town of Princeton had hired a sharp shooter that had all sorts of special government permits and a special silenced rifle with a night vision scope. He said he could drive around at night looking for deer, shoot one in your yard between the houses, load it up and be gone and you would never even know he was there. Not to mention the cost was $1000 per deer. I was WAY against that idea and so was the rest of the town. We finally came up with the idea of letting volunteer bow hunters shoot them. after some long discussions and arguements and the anti's the PGDC was finally created. The town went and purchased a bunch of ladder stands, got the 450 foot safety zones measured out, permission slips signed for everybody on the committee and it was on. We had ALL EYES ON US as we were the first to do anything like this. It has been a great success, no accidents, no real problems what so ever, and we have taken huge numbers every year.Port my father and myself have been on the committee since it's inception, and are proud to say we had something to do with a revolution that other towns in New Jersey and other states are now implementing themselves. The deer are plenty, and the hunting is great. We always have a blast, especially when it comes to killing deer. As far as the deer are concerned, it's nothing personal, it's strictly business.

#1: One of my favorite little girls. She isn't so little anymore, now she is showing cattle and barrel racing horses out in Oklahoma.

#8: Look at the size of this doe. She is by far the biggest doe I have ever shot. We should have weighed her, but instead we ate her. I'll bet she was close to two hundred pounds. I make most deer look small in pictures, but this doe makes me look petite.

All good reasons to have a beer with your friends.

Yes my friend you are right, we should have weighed her. I know all to well that doe was a house. It was one hell of a drag. Deer are usually easy to drag when you have help this one wasn't LMAO.
