I had a great opening day last year in N.J. It was raining, but after waiting all summer for the opener, there was no dampening my spirits. First thing in the morning I cracked a doe. This started my season right. Earn a buck tag was filled and it was still early. I heard a crack at the shot, and checking my bow I found a split in my limb. I took the deer to the check station, then headed back to PA. to get my other bow. I was back in the woods by lunchtime. I shot another doe within 30 minutes. Out to the check station again and back to the treestand. In the evening a nice six came in. I just couldn't help myself when I saw how wide he was, and how much mass he had. Clearly an oldtimer on the slide. "Whackk! Back to the check station for the third time. Rain all day. Two bows. Two treestands. Three deer. What an opener.
